Fake Palm Trees

There’s a home in Bountiful that I’ve been walking by for years, that keeps trying to grow PALM TREES.

This homeowner must really LOVE palm trees, because it’s a huge effort that's been sustained over decades.

It's very unusual to see palm trees in Bountiful, Utah.

Tropical palm trees don't grow in Northern Utah. Winter kills these trees off, but only every time. I don’t know how many trees have come and gone from this front yard. In the winter the tree stumps are wrapped in plastic with Christmas lights wound around them, in an effort to keep them warm?

I find it all fascinating.

As the saying goes, if you always do what you’ve always done you will always get what you’ve always got. And they have aways planted and gotten dead palm trees.

Well.. I walked by this house again, last week, and they have more palm trees... the “fake “ kind…and they look pretty good.

Obviously this homeowner was undaunted and found a way to have palm trees in her yard.

So…. What did I learn? Sometimes we have to fake it til we make it.

Try something new.

Change your mind.

There's always another way.

People like what they like.

It’s all interesting.
